The Vision:  A new Animal Shelter

We are Building an Amazing New Animal Shelter!

A sad average of 300 stray and abandoned pets a month are taken to the shelter. They need us to  finish the new building!  The goal is May 10, 2010. We are diligently working to achieve this goal.

Please help us finish the construction project.

The vision of the new animal shelter and fundraising for the new facility began in May of 2005. The goal was to build a functional, not fancy shelter without creating debt.  The community has given over $900,000 towards this "pay as we build" project.  In addition, three and one half acres and construction services valued at 1.2 million dollars have been donated. The 18,000 sq foot building is up, exterior doors and windows,  utilities and plumbing are in, concrete floor has been poured and interior framing is complete!  Additional funds are needed for electrical, heating, cooling, ventilation, sheetrock, painting, fencing and finishing the animal care, staffing and public areas.  The building design is unique with large areas dedicated to the care, comfort, training and adoption of the pets.  It will be an uplifting place where pets in need connect with and comfort people in need.  Also, it will serve as a resource center for education and volunteer opportunities for our youth and people of all ages.  There will be a positive impact on the lives of many as people help pets and pets help people.  Please, get involved! You CAN make a difference!

Together, we will finish the new shelter.

An estimated $290,000 is needed.

Your Donations Will Finish theBuilding!

Note:  Every dollar you donate goes directly to finishing the new animal shelter.  There are no administrative costs  as all time is donated.

Pets are "Angels with Whiskers".  They need you!

When God created pets, He blessed them with amazing qualities, including unconditional love and acceptance, compassion, joy, strength, forgiveness and loyalty.  As pets are rescued and re-homed, they share their love and touch our hearts, become part of our families, add another dimension to our lives and often comfort and rescue their new owners. Pets improve and enrich the quality of our lives. Pets are precious gifts; they need your help.

Please, become passionately committed to finishing the new animal shelter.

This is a "pay as we build" project and it is debt free.

Pease, give generously!

WHY WE NEED A NEW SHELTER...   Though the current animal shelter, located at 500 Miller Island Road, is clean, has outside exercise yards for the dogs and a separate cat room, it has many challenges.

  • The existing shelter lacks separate pet areas for stray, sick, and adoptable pets, making it hard to manage the health of the animals.
  • The well and septic systems routinely have problems.
  • The foundation is too low and portions of the facility flood when it rains.
  • The ventilation and drainage systems are insufficient.
  • The puppy area is without floor drains and is difficult to clean.
  • The isolation room is too small and hard to clean safely when occupied by dangerous or sick animal.

Please be involved with this community project.
