SNIP helps members of our community who otherwise cannot afford to have their pets spayed or neutered.  Vouchers vary in price, down to zero, and are subject to application and screening .  Some terms and conditions apply.  Vouchers are only available at the Humane Society Animal Shelter located at 500 Miller Island Road and are given at the sole discretion of the Klamath Humane Society. The number of vouchers issued is based on available funding.  A short term loan program, requiring volunteer time, may also be available.

The Veterinarians in Klamath Falls make the program possible!  The SNIP need-based voucher system is made possible through the participation of very dedicated, generous, caring Veterinarians in Klamath Falls who provide their services to the Spay Neuter Incentive Program at discounted prices.  They are saving lives through low cost spay / neuter and are GREATLY appreciated!

SNIP is funded through donations and grants.  Additional funding to help the animals is always needed!  The program began in February, 2004 and through December 31, 2008, 2,254 cats and 1,241 dogs for a total of 3,495 have been altered.  You can help with SNIP by sending donations to help those in need have their pets spayed or neutered.  Help to stop the pet over population problem.    Please Mail Your Donation To:  Klamath Humane Society, SNIP, P.O.                          WHY SPAY / NEUTER?

Pet overpopulation has reached a crisis point in this Country.  You personally can make a difference by having your pet spayed or neutered.

Spayed / Neutered pets will be healthier, live a longer life, and are less likely to develop uterine, mammory, or testicular cancer.

Spaying / Neutering has a calming affect on many animals because it reduces the urge to reproduce.

Spayed / Neutered animals are better behaved and far less likely to mark territory, fight, bite, scratch, or roam, which means that your pet will be less likely to become lost, injured or hit by a car.

Spaying / Neutering can eliminate aggressive behavior.  Don't confuse aggressiveness with protectiveness.  A neutered dog protects his home and family just as well as an unneutered dog.

American pets are dying for people to be responsible.  We live in a society with too many pets for the homes available to them and more pets are born daily.

See the tragic results of pet overpopulation.  Visit any animal shelter in the United States.  Instead of breeding, adopt a Shelter Pet!

Stop the cycle.  Some decendents of each pet that reproduces will become unwanted and the victim of human neglect, carelessness and / or bad judgement.  These pets become part of the 5,000,000,000 (5 MILLION) homeless pets euthanized in the United States each year!
